From our years of field experience, we have learned to understand and respect the challenging nature of the Marine industry.
Situated in South Florida, Waveguide is in the perfect location to service the Caribbean and the Americas. With a quick drive to both Fort Lauderdale and Miami International Airports, Waveguide has access to a web of international flights. This may be one of Waveguide’s greatest assets. With fiber optic and copper splicing equipment and materials readily available, Waveguide can respond to a downed network in short order, whether down the street or across the world. For just this purpose, we have a variety of materials stocked and ready to go, along with trained technicians ready to depart.
Countless times we have performed hurricane disaster preparations and recovery operations for US Corporations within the Caribbean, as well as responding to downed networks onboard a variety of cruise ships. Our service is available 24 hours a day and 365 days a year.
Case History
The day was a typical Saturday afternoon. Waveguide technicians were in the midst of a system roll-out off the coast of France. During the night, the Ship's electricians were upgrading the electrical UPS system. When power was restored, transient voltage was mistakenly introduced onto the UPS circuits. The voltage surge caused the data workstations' power outlets to trip their internal protection circuits rendering the power strips useless. Over 70% of the data network was without power. A call went out and within 4 hours, new power strips and a technician were on a plane to England to replace the blown power strips. The technician met the Ship in Port and a few hours later all workstations were back on line.
Fortunately this is not a typical situation. Then again, these are the times that Waveguide shines the brightest.
