Documentation Services
As a fundamental part of Waveguide’s services, the capability of delivering sophisticated documentation upon project completion is a highlight of our quality performance. Accurate records provide detailed information that facilitates cost efficient end to end troubleshooting by eliminating laborious practices like circuit tracing and cable toning.
Waveguide Communications offers a wide array of informative formats that put this specific network information at your fingertips, such as:
- Patch Matrix – Provides cable locations and network patching sequence.
- Rack Photos – Provide current photos of individual hardware components.
- Visio Drawings – Provide network equipment and topology diagrams.
- Network Specific CAD Plans – Provide marked (as-built) computer aided drawings of marine deck plans or land based floor plans.
- Equipment Locator Spreadsheets – Provide individual unit photos, locations, Mac addresses, IP addresses, and network connectivity information. These are particularly helpful in wireless networks.
- Cable test results- Show important data such as cable readings at the time of installation.
Electronic representation of all documentation is provided as well.
In the past the understanding has been that when it comes to voice and data networks the most overlooked mechanism of the network is record keeping. Waveguide Communications’ ideals have always been to support the quality installation we provide with the same quality documentation. Our belief is that the three most important components of building a strong voice and data network, whether it be a single office or an enterprise wide infrastructure, are sound design, quality installation and detailed documentation. Performing quality work to build a quality infrastructure that brings you the highest return on your investment is where Waveguide Communications has an unsurpassed performance.

-
Patch Matrix
Our Patch Matrix is a text description of the port locations as they are patched in the equipment rack patch panels. Included in the patch matrix is the complete field location of each cable by deck, fire zone, frame and a location description.
-
Rack Photos
Full rack photos are included that depict the units and panels within the rack.
-
Rack Visios
A Visio drawing is provided of the rack representing the units contained there in.
-
Connectivity Drawings
This diagram is a map of cable connectivity. These Visio drawings layout the actual route of the cable (fiber and/or copper) as it was installed from RDP to RDP.
-
Locator Sheets
The locator sheet may be equipment specific but most common is the antenna locator. As does the patch matrix for cable patching, does the locator for the field search. A photo for each access point, antenna, and CAD shot deck location is included to show how the equipment looks in its surrounding area. Accompanying the photos are text that provide the deck, fire zone, frame, port and other pertinent notes for each specified component.
-
Deck and Floor Plans
Our CAD Technicians record the locations of all installed equipment in the form of “as-built” drawings that are professional and legible deck/floor plans including an easy-to-navigate equipment legend.
-
Cable Test Results
All installed cables are carefully tested and recorded to provide our customers with the security of a reliable network.
